Miami City Manager Art Noriega has appointed Shelby Busó as the new Chief Resilience Officer for the city. This decision follows a comprehensive national search. Busó is expected to play a crucial role in addressing Miami's climate change challenges.
Busó will lead the Division of Resilience and Sustainability, which has recently expanded with several new positions. Her responsibilities will include advancing Miami’s resilience initiatives funded by both city and grant resources.
Additionally, she will work on maintaining and expanding Miami's climate partnerships, including those with the Global Resilient City Network, Resilient305, C-40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, and Mayor Francis Suarez's involvement in the Global Commission on Climate Adaptation.
Before joining Miami, Busó was Atlanta's Chief Sustainability Officer for both the city and its Mayor’s Office of Resilience. She also held roles at the U.S. Green Building Council in Georgia and Central Atlanta Progress.
Busó holds a BA from Wake Forest University and a JD/Master of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School.
