Two West Palm Beach residents have pled guilty to being felons in possession of firearms following a shooting at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall on Valentine’s Day.
Kamarcio Mitchell, 29, pled guilty yesterday to possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Devon Jamal Graham, also 29, had previously pled guilty on August 1 to possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance containing fentanyl and cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
On February 14, both Mitchell and Graham were at The Gardens Mall in possession of firearms. Mitchell was seen on the second level near a retail store before following Graham onto an escalator while manipulating an object under his shirt. Graham then fired upon Mitchell, who fled to the parking lot leaving a trail of blood. Police found a disassembled loaded firearm near the blood trail. Mitchell was treated for his injury at a local hospital. Upon his arrest on a federal warrant, authorities discovered him in possession of fentanyl after he attempted to discard the drugs.
Police recovered two firearms from the vehicle that transported Graham to the mall along with 35 capsules containing fentanyl and approximately 16 grams of cocaine.
Mitchell’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 21 before U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon in Fort Pierce. He faces between 15 years to life in prison. Graham's sentencing hearing is set for October 29 before Judge Cannon; he faces between five years to life in prison.
