On July 18, 2024, the United States charged Courtney Mallory, a 44-year-old resident of Coconut Creek, Florida, with two bank robberies: one at a Truist Bank in Boca Raton on June 5, 2024, and another at a Bank of America in Delray Beach on July 12, 2024.
According to allegations in the criminal complaint, Mallory entered the Truist Bank on State Road 441 in Boca Raton at approximately 9:30 a.m. on June 5. He allegedly brandished what appeared to be a firearm while wearing a mask and demanded money from bank employees. The complaint states that Mallory forced tellers to take him to the vault and fled with thousands of dollars in U.S. currency in a dark blue Nissan.
On July 12, Mallory is alleged to have committed another robbery at the Bank of America on Jog Road in Delray Beach. Similar to the first incident, he reportedly wore a mask and brandished what appeared to be a firearm before escaping with thousands of dollars in U.S. currency in the same dark blue Nissan.
FBI agents arrested Mallory at his Coconut Creek residence on July 17. During their search of his home and vehicle, agents recovered clothing and a backpack used during the robberies, along with a black pellet gun and thousands of dollars wrapped in bank bands from Truist Bank and Bank of America.
Mallory appeared for his initial hearing at West Palm Beach Federal Court on Thursday, July 18. A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for July 25 at 10:00 A.M., before a United States Magistrate Judge in West Palm Beach.
U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe for the Southern District of Florida; FBI Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Veltri; and Sheriff Ric Bradshaw of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office announced these developments.
"A criminal complaint contains mere allegations," stated authorities. "All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law."
