The City of Miami’s Office of the City Clerk has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the digitization and release of over 45 years of legislative records. In a recent statement, the City Clerk’s Staff expressed their excitement about the partnership with the City’s Department of Innovation and Technology that made this milestone possible.

"The repository which includes City Commission Agendas, Minutes, Resolutions and Ordinances from 1978 to the present and Community Redevelopment Agencies (Southeast Overtown/Park West CRA, Midtown CRA, OMNI CRA and West Grove CRA) Agendas, Minutes, Resolutions and Ordinances from 1995 to the present are now accessible online," said the City Clerk’s Office.

The move towards digitization was aimed at reducing costs, increasing transparency, and providing 24/7 access to frequently requested documents. According to the announcement, documents that were previously only accessible on microfilm and paper are now preserved in a searchable database, resulting in a more efficient process for public records requests.

"Digitization of these important documents reduces the risks of records being damaged from natural disasters and degraded due to frequent handling," the statement further added.

The City Clerk’s Office emphasized its commitment to providing timely access to documents for both internal and external customers while improving operational efficiencies within the office. The announcement also mentioned that commission documents predating 1978 will be added to the repository as they complete the quality assurance process, with the ultimate goal being to provide access to all Commission documents from 1896 to the present at the touch of a button.
