To celebrate America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, the Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) will host an educational trivia quiz, the #RecycleRightChallenge, on its Facebook page. The idea is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and encourage residents to recycle properly. On Tuesday, DSWM staff will be present at the Stephen P. Clark Center atrium, 111 NW 1st St, Miami, FL 33128, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to distribute information about the different recycling programs Miami-Dade County makes available to residents.
To commemorate this important day and encourage recycling all year round, residents can:
Recycle Right by learning the “Simple 5” items to recycle in Miami-Dade’s program (paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, cartons)
View a two-part video (video 1 and video 2) on the processing of curbside recyclables after they are collected
Learn what can (and can’t) be taken to our Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers
• Practice responsible recycling by dropping off hazardous chemicals, used electronics, and old paint at one of our Home Chemical Collection Centers
• Pickup new or lightly used home chemical products can be picked up at the Home Chemical Centers for free as part of the Chem-Again Program
• Learn how to compost at home
• Learn about our Used Oil Recycling program
