Bucs rebound with a 69-51 win

The Barry Buccaneers bounced back with a 69-51 victory over the Livingstone Blue Bears on Saturday, Nov. 27 in women's basketball action in the Health & Sports Center.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

 SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Bucs' defense set the tone in the first period, holding the Bears to just four points. Dasiah Thornton led a balanced Buccaneer attack with five points. | Bucs 16, Bears 4
  • 2Q - Paced by nine offensive rebounds, the Bears cut back into the lead, getting as close as six points before another Thornton three-pointer gave Barry back thei cushion. | Bucs 29, Bears 22
  • 3Q - Leading 36-30, the Bucs rolled off a 12-2 run to push the lead back to 16 points. A couple of fast break layups by Chiara Fusari and Ashleigh Pink fueled the charge. | Bucs 50, Bears 35
  • 4Q - The Bucs extended the lead to as many as 24 points, on a three-pointer by Fusari at 7:07, and the Bears never got closer than 16 the rest of the way.   | Bucs 69, Bears 51
NOTEWORTHY:

  • Fusari led the Bucs with a season-high 21 points off the bench.
  • Hergot had 10 points and four rebounds.
  • Dajiah Turner led the Bears with 15 points.
  • The Bucs forced 30 turnover and score 28 points off them.
  • Neither team shot particularly well, but the Buc out-shot the Bear 8-2 from three-point range. 
ON THE HORIZON:

Barry gets back into Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 1, hosting arch-rival Lynn in the HSC at 5:30 pm.
