FIU offers $150 FIU One Card incentive for vaccinations

Fiu

Florida International University recently issued the following announcement.

Dear members of the university community:

Welcome to Fall 2021 at FIU! We are excited to have our students, faculty and staff on campus this semester. Critical to our success is the recognition that we are all part of this community and part of the Panther family! With this recognition comes an awesome responsibility for all of us to practice healthy and safe habits to protect ourselves and others.

We know that vaccines are the most effective protection we have against COVID-19, including the Delta variant. On Monday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted full approval to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. If you have not yet received the vaccine, we urge you to do so right away. With healthy protocols and a vaccinated community, we know we have a winning combination to succeed!

Incentive Program

Beginning today, all students, faculty and staff are eligible to receive a $150 FIU One Card incentive payment if they get vaccinated.

If you have not started the vaccination process, and would like to receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, you must receive your first dose between today and September 10. If you already have your first dose, you must complete your second dose no later than the end of September - based on your second appointment.

If you would like to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, you must receive the dose between today and September 10.

For those of you who are already fully vaccinated, THANK YOU! Be on the lookout for additional information about a vaccination reward program

How to use your incentive

In order to receive the $150 incentive, please upload your vaccination card documenting you have received both vaccine doses by October 15 to the Student Health portal. Faculty and staff should also utilize the Student Health portal to upload vaccination cards. By uploading this documentation, individuals agree to grant permission to the FIU Student Health Center to access their Florida SHOTS record. For expedited vaccine verification, we encourage you to get vaccinated right here at FIU.

Eligible students, faculty and staff can use their $150 incentive payment anywhere FIU Cash is accepted, such as dining vendors, retail and service locations.

For more information, please visit the FIU Vaccination Incentive webpage.

Where to get vaccinated

You can visit our own vaccination site, located in the Graham Center Piano Lounge at MMC. This site will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, except for Labor Day on Monday, September 6. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Please call 305-348-5100 for more information.

In addition, through October 4, additional vaccine sites at both MMC and BBC will offer first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine as part of a collaboration between FIU, Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Health. A pop-up vaccine site will be located in front of Panther Hall at MMC and at the Wolfe University Center Culture Corner at BBC from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week.

There are also multiple locations locally where you can get vaccinated.

Thank you for contributing to a successful Fall 2021 semester. Together, we can and will fight to end this global crisis. Please helps us make it safe for all so we can have a successful semester.
