59 percent of applicants to Florida International University were admitted for fall 2018

At Florida International University, 76 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Miami enrolled 57,942 students in fall 2018, including 48,818 in undergraduate and 9,124 in graduate programs, data shows. 11.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

84 percent of undergraduates are residents of Florida, and 3 percent are residents of other states. 12 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (67 percent) and Black or African American (12 percent).

The school admitted 59 percent of the 19,410 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 39 percent enrolled.
