Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) is responsible for the safe, secure, and humane detention of the individuals in its custody. We are an important part of the law enforcement community and operate the eighth largest correctional system in the nation with 4,600 individuals in our custody on average on any given day.

Correctional Officer: Correctional Officers directly impact the lives of persons in our custody. You will have an opportunity to learn from some of the best instructors in the field as you attend a robust correctional training program. This unique career will develop your interpersonal skills, crisis response abilities and give you an opportunity to serve this community. We are seeking both certified correctional officers and non-certified individuals to join our team.

Corrections Technician: Corrections Technicians serve an important role in our detention facilities by performing vital duties such as operating control panels, monitoring security devices within the jails to control, monitoring access/movement, overseeing important equipment, and retrieving research and updating inmate and/or missing person information.

Food Services Worker: Interested in how the culinary side of MDCR works? Our food-related (Food Services Workers and Cooks) positions offer the opportunity to prepare inmate meals served daily and ensure the kitchen is following food safety regulations.

Correctional Counselor: MDCR Counselors & have a direct impact on the lives of the individuals in our custody. They are responsible for assisting our inmate population with important matters such as providing reentry services, arranging legal counsel, medical treatment, and contact with loved ones amongst other things.
