The Miami-Dade County Workforce Housing Development Program is a voluntary program that provides density bonuses and other incentives for the development of workforce housing. New changes to the Miami-Dade County Zoning Code Ordinance No. 19-52 have now made it possible for other Miami-Dade County affordable or workforce housing programs to utilize the Workforce Housing Program incentives. Eligible programs include the Infill Housing Initiative Program, the Documentary Surtax Program, the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), HOME, and housing created in accordance with sections 125.379 and 125.38, Florida Statutes.
The Departments of Regulatory and Economic Resources and Public Housing and Community Development offer workshops on the third Friday of every month to explain how developers of affordable and workforce housing can benefit from these incentives, which include:
- Administrative reviews and approvals
- Flexible intensity and design standards
- Provisions for non-conforming residential lots
All workshops will be virtual via Microsoft Teams and will take place the third Friday of the month at 10 a.m.
Workshops are conducted by expert staff and geared to assist on how to take advantage of the County’s workforce, infill and affordable housing programs. All workshops are free and open to the public. Topics covered will include development bonuses and calculations, zoning incentives, environmental/water and sewer planning and housing agreements. Staff will work though real examples of how to take advantage of the programs.
Register now for workshops that still have availability. Space is limited to 15 people per event. Once a workshop is at capacity, it will no longer show on the registration form.
