City of Miami issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.
Intend to apply for the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program Round 2 (GIP)
Notice is hereby given that the City of Miami Office of Grants Administration is offering citizens the opportunity to make comments on the proposed grant applications for Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program (GIP) administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for disaster mitigation projects. The City will submit the following application:
Application 1. Flooding and right-of-way improvements in East Little Havana within the boundaries of SW 12th Avenue to SW 17th Place between SW 6th Street to NW 3rd Street.
The project consist on the construction of a stormwater collection system on multiple roads that includes 1) installation of a pump station with an outfall to the Miami River; 2) offline and inline injection wells; 3) gravity drainage wells; 4) exfiltration trenches; 5) new and upsized stormwater inlets and pipes; 6) force mains; 7) roadway reconstruction on all the right-of-way streets; 8) curb and gutters, 9) ADA ramps; 10) swales; and 11) pavement striping and markings. The City of Miami is requesting $18,484,939 in CDBG MIT funding to support the design and construction of the East Little Havana Flood Improvements Project. The estimated total project cost is $36,969,877.
Application 2. Flooding and right-of-way improvements located in South-West Wynwood within the boundaries of SW 7th Avenue to SW 2nd Avenue between NW 28 Street to NW 14th Street.
The project consist on the construction of a stormwater collection system on multiple roads that includes 1) installation of a pump station with an outfall to Biscayne Bay; 2) injection wells; 3) gravity drainage wells; 4) exfiltration trenches; 5) new and upsized stormwater inlets and pipes; 6) roadway reconstruction on all the right-of-way streets; 7) curb and gutters, 8) ADA ramps; 9) swales; and 10) pavement striping and markings. The City of Miami is requesting $19,790,000 in CDBG MIT funding to support the design and construction of the South-West Wynwood Flood Improvements Project. The estimated total project cost is $31,523,773.
Application 3. Construction of Fire Station 10
The project will consist of the demolition of existing fire station and design and construct a new City of Miami Fire Station 10 with additional space to house Special Operation Teams. The new Fire Station 10 will be built conforming with construction codes for critical facilities and able to provide present and future emergency services to area and city residents. Project is estimated to cost up to $28,788,014 with a grant request of $22,348,014 and a City match of $6,440,000.
The City of Miami will allow 14-day public comment period starting August 11, 2021 and ending August 27, 2021 at 12:00 P.M.
