Rally for Democracy Held at Freedom Tower
Miami Dade College issued the following announcement on July 20.Cuban American singer, songwriter, actor and Miami Dade College /New World School of the Arts alumnus Jencarlos Canela led a rally for democracy in Cuba alongside international artists and activists including Emilio Estefan, Willy Chirino, Lissette, Rosa María Payá, Marcell Felipe, Ramón Saúl Sánchez, and Silvia Iriondo, among others.The event took place on Saturday, July 17, at MDC’s Freedom Tower, considered the “Ellis Island of the South” for its role in assisting Cuban refugees in the 1960s and 70s and because it serves as a beacon of hope for all.
