Unity Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center ranked No. 2 in Miami-Dade for nursing home capacity in Q1 2026

Unity Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center ranked as the second largest nursing home in Miami-Dade County during the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The facility offered a total of 294 beds—141 more than the county average for that period—and cared for an average of 259.8 residents at that time.

CMS awarded Unity Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 4 out of 5, exceeding the Florida state nursing home average of 3.3.

Miami Jewish Health Systems, Inc. had the county’s highest bed count at 393, while The Terrace of Hialeah placed third with 276 beds available in the same quarter.

Unity Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center reported no fines or penalties for the first quarter of 2026.

There were 46 for-profit nursing homes reported in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the country’s older adult population is growing, while younger age groups are declining. From 2020 to 2024, the number of people age 65 and up grew by 13%, while those younger than 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the last century, the older adult population has expanded significantly, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study found that close to half of Americans in this group, about 28 million, will likely need long-term services and supports, with more than one-third potentially requiring nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
