Bosecker powers the Bucs to victory

The Barry Buccaneers powered to a 63-59 win over the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Cesar Odio Court Wednesday night in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP

Final:  Barry 63, Embry-Riddle 59

Records: Barry (11-9, 6-6 SSC), ERAU (8-10, 3-9 SSC)

SUMMARY:

1Q - Embry-Riddle led early, until back-to-back layups by Trinity Bosecker gave Barry an 8-6 lead. But the Eagles scored nine straight pointsand carried a six-point edge into the break.  | Eagles 18, Bucs 12

2Q - The Eagles still led by six after a jumper by Jenna Teterycz with 2:52 to play in the half. K'Nari Holliday and Camilla Flefil each scored three points in a 6-0 run as Barry tied it at the break. | Bucs 28, Eagles 28

3Q -  The Eagles scored the first six points of the quarter to rebuild their lead and were up by five, 43-38, after a three-pointer by Sarah Napoli with 4:50 to play. But Bosecker had back-to-back layups and Ana Gascon hit a jumper in the lane to give Barry their first lead since the first quarter.  | Bucs 48, Eagles 47

4Q - Although the Eagles scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, the Bucs rolled off nine straight points as the Eagles went scoreless for almost five minutes. Barry never trailed the rest of the way and Dasiah Thornton hit a pair of free throws with 0:05 seconds left to seal the win. | Bucs 63, Eagles 59

NOTEWORTHY:

Bosecker had a monster game for the Bucs, with 21 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four assists. The 21 points were a career-high.

Holliday chipped in 12 points and Thornton had 10.

Madison Jean-Louis and Teterycz each had 13 points to lead the Eagles.

Barry won most metrics, outscoring Embry-Riddle 40-20 in the paint, 23-9 off turnovers and 29-11 off the bench.

Rebounds were even at 29-29, but Barry had the edge in blocks (7-1), steals (9-7) and assists (15-9).

The win was the third straight for the Bucs, despite several players missing the game with various injuries.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs have a bye this weekend, and will use the break to heal up before taking on the Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday, Feb. 1 on Cesar Odio Court.
