Rogers' Effort on Both Ends Leads Bobcats to First Victory of 2023

The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team started the new year with a win over Great Lakes Christian College. The game was highlighted by Justyn Rogers who had 14-points, 7 assists, 9 rebounds, and 7 blocks.

The Bobcats started fast with a three from Dalon Dean just seconds into the game. Jordan Hernandez and D'andre Johnson scored back to back buckets and the Crusaders didn't have an answer. Five minutes in, Justyn Rogers really started to get in his groove throwing one down on the fast break.

After some time, the Crusaders crawled their way to within one point, but Federico Frascari drove to the net and received a beautiful pass from Kyle Feldman. After the momentum shift, the Bobcats went on a run, extending their lead to 15. James Harris III added fuel to the fire hitting a three right in a Crusader defenders face.

Jordan Hernandez and D'andre Johnson went on to hit back to back from behind the arch nearing the end of the first half. Ahman Ellington hit a tough jumper in the paint to end the first half, and the Bobcats took a 52-29-point lead into the locker room.

Dalon Dean started the second half out as well, this time getting the easy layup. Not long after, Jordan Hernandez hit another three, and STU lost no momentum in the locker room. Right after the Crusaders scored, Jordan Hernandez received the ball again this time making the defender look silly and hitting a jumper.

Two minutes later Justyn Rogers fed the ball to a wide open Dalon Dean who hit another three. Some time went by with no scoring from both sides, but Dalon Dean broke the silence with yet another from behind the arch. Some more time past with little happening, but Justyn Rogers drove to the net for a contested layup, making it a 32-point game.

The Bobcats went on another run, which the Crusaders answered back here and there with the strong defensive effort from STU. Kyle Feldman made it a 33-point game late, by driving to the paint and getting one to fall. Lincoln Hale gave the Bobcats the biggest lead of the night, also making a layup. The final points of the night came from the hands of Federico Frascari who drove to the net for the contested finger roll.
