No. 22 Bobcats Welcome Top-25 Matchup Saturday Evening

Coming off a dominating win over North American University, St. Thomas University (STU) looks to keep the ball rolling in a historical conference rivalry against no. 21 Southeastern University (SEU) this Saturday.

The Bobcats made history this past Saturday as they outscored North American University 52-0 in the programs very first official home game held at AutoNation Field.

The win was highlighted by a dominating offense lead by wide receiver, C'Quan Jnopierre. The junior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. was responsible for 117 all-purpose yards, including 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns, earning Sun-Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensively, STU earned the second ever shut out in program history. Senior linebacker, Donnell Bennett III, lead the way as he was responsible for five tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks.

The win propelled the Bobcats into the highest ranking in program history coming in at no. 22 on the latest NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. STU will look for its first ever win as a program over conference rival no. 21 Southeastern University. A game which may hold many playoff implications down the line.

No. 21 Southeastern (4-0) stands undefeated heading into week five including one forfeit by University of Fort Lauderdale.

The Fire are hotter than ever as they are led by quarterback, Kaylan Wiggins. The former Florida International University transfer is averaging 225 passing yards and a 59% completion percentage per game to kick off the year.

The SEU defense won't look to slow down. In just three games this season they have allowed just north of 13 points per game. That defense is led by senior linebacker, Marc Viechec, who currently has 22 tackles, one and a half tackles for loss, and one and a half sacks on the season.

Here is what STU Head Coach, Bill Rychel, had to say when asked about how confident he is heading into such a historical game for this program, "I am confident, just like every week. We have had a good week of practice, we just need to go out, execute, and play physical. Southeastern is a good football team, they are well coached and have some really good players. Our focus is how much better we can play this week as we continue our process."

Kickoff will take place at AutoNation Field on Saturday, September 24th, at 6 P.M. For tickets, click here.
