The 11th ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team has been selected to finish second in the Sun Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll as released by the conference office Wednesday morning. Voting is done by the league's nine head coaches and each team is not allowed to vote for their own.
The Bobcats had another incredible season last year taking home the SUN regular season title and going back-to-back as tournament champions. The team was ranked as high as fifth in the country after upsetting Keiser in regular season play.
St. Thomas made their third straight NAIA National Tournament Opening Round appearance and first-time hosting. The Bobcats made it to the championship game before falling late to Ottawa (Ariz.).
The poll finished out with Southeastern coming in third (48 points), Warner in fourth (39 points), Webber International fifth (33 points), SCAD-Savannah sixth (29 points), Thomas seventh (27 points), Florida Memorial eighth (18 points), and Ave Maria rounded out the poll with nine points.
The 2022 season is set to start at a neutral site in Mobile, Ala. where the Bobcats will take on Top-25 ranked Vanguard on August 25. Full schedule can be found here.
