Volleyball Drop Decision to Sharks in Straight Sets

Barry University issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

The Bucs Finish the Season with a 13-14 record

The Barry Buccaneers traveled up the interstate and battled against cross-town rivals Nova Southeastern. The Bucs came up short, dropping the match in three straight sets to end the regular season. NSU won 25-20, 25-17, 25-2.2.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

Final: Nova Southeastern, Barry 0

Records: Nova Southeastern (23-5, 15-4 SSC) ,Barry (13-14, 6-14 SSC)

All-Time Series: Barry leads 31-12

SUMMARY:

1st set | The match opened up with the first five points scored coming off kills. NSU won the set with 14 kills compared to the Bucs' 10. | NSU 25, Barry 20

2nd set | Nova Southeastern took the second set after the Bucs posted a -.032 hitting percentage. | NSU 25, Barry 17

3rd set | The Sharks continued their momentum, starting the set on an 8-3 run. The Bucs ended the set hitting a .231 hitting percentage but were unable to hold off the Sharks, who come out with the victory. | NSU 25, Barry 22

NOTEWORTHY:

Djuly Schmorantz led both teams in kills with 11. Schmorantz also picked up an assist and service ace.

Bianca Paşca directed the Bucs' offense with 17 assists.

Mónica López led the Bucs in digs with 12.

ON THE HORIZON:

This marks the final 2021 regular game match for the Bucs, as they look to prepare for next season in Fall 2022.
