St. Thomas University Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The 24th ranked St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team (9-3-2, 3-3-1 SUN) won the match against the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University (9-7, 3-5 SUN) from the Bobcat Turf Field, Thursday evening, 1-0.

Melanie Lefebvre earned the starting nod in the net for the Bobcats for the 13th straight game
The match between the Gyrenes and Bobcats began with a very eager shot by Karina Medina in attempt to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard three minutes into the game.
Throughout the first half of the match, both the AMU and STU kept equal possession of the ball.
St. Thomas outshot Ave Maria in the first half of the match with 13 shots to the Gyrenes Goalie
The sole goal of the match was made by Jocelyn Mendez off a freekick in the 42nd – minute, making that Mendez's second goal of the season.
At the half the Bobcats led the match 1-0 over the Gyrenes.
In the second half the Bobcats kept pursuing the attack and totaled 27 shots, however they were unable to find the back of the net.
Lefebvre received her ninth shutout of the season, which allowed St. Thomas to secure another win.

St. Thomas will head to West Palm Beach to face the #2 Seahawks of Keiser University on the Arrigo-Vecellio Field, on October 30th with a scheduled start time of 1 p.m.
