Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro surpass New Orleans-Metairie in 2019

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro area exported $35.5 billion in 2019, more than exports from New Orleans-Metairie in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro area consists of three counties.

The New Orleans-Metairie metro area comprises eight counties exporting $34.1 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
