From service closures to consumer and safety tips to fun things to do with the whole family, our Winter Holiday Guide will lighten your load and brighten your spirits.

Department Services

Miami-Dade County offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.

Miami-Dade Transit (Read the press release)

  • Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a regular weekend schedule Saturday, Dec. 24, Sunday, Dec. 25, Saturday, Dec. 31 and Sunday, Jan. 1
  • Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a regular weekday schedule Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2
  • For New Year’s Eve, Transit will operate until 2 a.m. into the early morning of Jan. 1

Solid Waste (Read the press release)

  • Solid Waste Management will not collect trash Monday, Dec. 26, but recycling will be collected
  • Solid Waste service will operate as scheduled Monday, Jan. 2
  • Christmas tree drop-off for recycling will be available to Miami-Dade residents who receive waste collection services starting Monday, Dec. 26

Other Services

  • Miami-Dade Public Libraries will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 2
  • Miami-Dade Parks will remain open

Fun Activities

  • Historic Holiday Décor at Deering Estate
  • Marvel at the beautiful displays of the Historic Holiday Décor “A Jazzy Holiday” on display through Jan. 6 at the Deering Estate. 
  • The Nightgarden at Fairchild Botanical Garden

Enjoy the cool Miami nights at the Nightgarden at Fairchild Botanical Garden, an enchanted, illuminated experience full of fantasy and wonderment.

  • Zoo Lights
  • Take in over a million dazzling lights and joyous holiday spirit as Zoo Miami hosts Zoo Lights, happening on select nights through Dec. 30. Each night hosts a special theme. Guests are encouraged to dress accordingly.
