On the second anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel, U.S. Representative María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) reiterated her support for Israel and the Jewish community.

“Two years ago today, the world watched in horror as Hamas unleashed the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The world witnessed Hamas commit unthinkable atrocities in Israel, with babies burned alive, women raped, and families slaughtered in their homes,” said Representative Salazar. “We will never forget that day and we will never excuse such evil.”

Salazar stressed that remembering these events should be accompanied by efforts to achieve justice and lasting security.

“Today, while negotiations for peace are hopefully close to completion, I pray that President Trump will help finalize a deal that brings every hostage home, restores Israel’s security, and ends this nightmare once and for all. Evil must never triumph, terror must never be rewarded, and the Jewish people must know they are not alone. America stands with them, now and forever.”

During her time in Congress, Salazar has advocated for Israel and supported measures addressing antisemitism. She has led bipartisan initiatives to honor Jewish history and respond to increasing antisemitic incidents.

Earlier this year, she co-led the Pray Safe Act. This bipartisan legislation aims to address rising attacks on places of worship by creating a federal resource hub for faith-based organizations seeking safety information and access to security grants.

Salazar also co-led the Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act. Signed into law in 2024, this act awards Congressional Gold Medals to 60 diplomats who saved Jewish lives during the Holocaust at significant personal risk.

She has organized hearings on global antisemitism and remains committed to religious freedom, combating antisemitism, and supporting America’s allies.
