Rep. María Elvira Salazar, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district, used her Twitter account on May 8, 2026, to highlight the contributions of military families and first responders in South Florida.
Hoy reconocemos a quienes sostienen a nuestras” (May 8, 2026).
Later that day, she continued her recognition efforts by honoring local emergency personnel in two separate tweets. She also posted in English: “Today, I had the honor of recognizing the brave men and women who stand as guardians of our communities. Our police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and first responders answer the call every day with courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to others,” (May 8, 2026).
Military families in the United States often face long periods of separation and uncertainty due to deployments or training assignments. First responders such as police officers and firefighters are regularly acknowledged for their roles in ensuring public safety across communities.
