Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th congressional district, posted several messages on May 14, 2026, addressing both foreign policy concerns and her engagement with local students visiting the Capitol.

In a statement published at 14:40 UTC, Salazar addressed the ongoing situation in Cuba.

Later that day at 15:17 UTC, Salazar shared her experience welcoming young visitors to the U.S. Capitol: “What a joy to welcome the students from Sunset Elementary School to the U.S. Capitol today.

Their energy, curiosity, and excitement were contagious. It’s always special to see young people from #FL27 experience firsthand how Congress works and ask thoughtful questions about” (May 14, 2026).

Shortly after at 15:20 UTC, she reiterated her message in Spanish for her constituents: “Qué alegría recibir hoy en el Capitolio a los estudiantes de Sunset Elementary School.

María Elvira Salazar has been an active voice regarding U.S.-Cuba relations and frequently highlights civic engagement among youth in her district. Florida’s proximity to Cuba has made it central to debates over U.S.-Cuban policy and immigration issues.
