Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th district, posted several statements on March 30, 2026, addressing issues related to Cuba and U.S. immigration policy.
In an English-language tweet, Salazar commented on the potential impact of Senator Marco Rubio serving in the State Department: “The worst thing that could happen to the Cuban regime is Marco Rubio at the State Department. What Cuba needs is a transition to freedom and democracy. It may not happen as fast as we hope, but make no mistake: the car is moving forward.” (March 30, 2026).
(March 30, 2026).
Later that day, Salazar shifted focus to economic and immigration concerns with another post in Spanish: “Sin esas manos que trabajan, esta economía no se sostiene.
Salazar has been an advocate for democratic reforms in Cuba and comprehensive immigration reform in the United States throughout her tenure in Congress.
