Rep. María Elvira Salazar, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district, posted a series of statements on March 26, 2026, addressing two major issues: the prosecution of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and recent legislative disputes over national security.
In her first post on March 26, Salazar commented on the legal proceedings against Venezuela’s president: “Nicolás Maduro, the dictator who held Venezuela hostage through power and narcotrafficking, is now facing justice in the United States. He drove a nation into misery, silenced his people, and forced millions into exile and now he must answer for it. In the end, every dictator”.
Later that day, Salazar criticized members of the Democratic Party regarding votes related to national security agencies. At 21:26 UTC she wrote: “THREE TIMES the Democrats have had the chance to put National Security first, and three times they’ve said no. DHS defends the homeland and TSA Agents keep our skies safe. These are not political pawns for policy disagreements. It’s time to end this nonsense and stop expecting”.
María Elvira Salazar has frequently focused her legislative efforts on foreign policy regarding Latin America as well as immigration and homeland security issues.
