Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, posted a series of tweets on April 10, 2026, addressing immigration policy and the Dignity Act in relation to former President Donald Trump’s campaign promises.

In her first tweet from that day, Salazar stated: “President Donald Trump made 3 major promises about immigration during the 2024 campaign: -secure the border -deport the criminals -carry out the largest deportation in American history MYTH: The Dignity Act conflicts with that agenda. FACT: It does NOT. Here’s why:” (April 10, 2026).

She further commented on border security by writing: “On the BORDER: President Trump effectively and decisively secured the border through executive action on Day 1. (Note: It remains secure as long as he is in office, but this is not codified into law. Congress needs to do that.)” (April 10, 2026).

Addressing concerns about deportations under current legislation, Salazar posted: “on CRIMINALS.. President Trump continues to deport criminal illegal aliens. MYTH: The Dignity Act stops deportations. FACT: It does NOT. The Dignity Act does not stop ANY criminal alien from being deported and it increases penalties for criminals and those attempting” (April 10, 2026).

The Dignity Act has been a subject of debate regarding its compatibility with broader immigration enforcement efforts and border security measures.
