Rep. María Elvira Salazar, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district, addressed issues ranging from political developments in Cuba to domestic travel concerns in a series of posts on March 20, 2026.
In her first post that day, Salazar commented on recent unrest in Cuba, writing: “The sound of pots and pans echoing across Cuba is the sound of a dictatorship cracking. The regime is isolated, out of lifelines, and collapsing in real time. This is a historic moment, but what comes next matters. For Cuba, there can be no peace without justice.” (March 20, 2026).
Later the same day, she turned attention to issues facing American travelers: “Travelers across the country are being forced to arrive three, four hours early just to make their flights. Families stuck in endless security lines. Kids exhausted. Plans hanging by a thread. Americans are feeling this in real time, while Democrats continue to play politics” (March 20, 2026).
That evening Salazar shared details from an event focused on security policy: “Wonderful morning at the @Heritage Foundation Miami Security Conference with @Urruchurtu, @jm_frias, and @gundisalvus. We discussed how Venezuela and Cuba are interconnected, and the decisive role the U.S., Spain, and the rest of Europe must play to help bring a free and” (March 20, 2026).
Salazar has been active on foreign policy regarding Latin America as well as vocal about domestic issues such as airport security wait times—an issue that has drawn national attention amid reports of staffing shortages at airports leading up to busy travel periods.
