The City of Miami has completed the first phase of its “Wi-Fi for Parks” project, providing free public Wi-Fi in 15 parks across the city. This initiative aims to improve digital access and equity, particularly in underserved neighborhoods.
The parks now offering free Wi-Fi include Antonio Maceo Park, Grapeland Park, Curtis Park, Kirk Munroe Tennis Center, Virrick Park, Morningside Park, Domino Park, Henderson Park, General Francisco Morazan Park, Coral Gate Park, Shenandoah Park, Robert King High Park, African Square Park, Legion Park, and Moore Park.
This development is expected to bridge the digital divide by providing essential online resources in areas with limited internet access. It will support students and families by enabling homework completion and virtual learning outside the classroom. Additionally, job seekers and remote workers can benefit from using these public spaces for virtual interviews and remote work tasks. Improved connectivity also enhances public safety by allowing faster access to emergency information and city resources.
The City of Miami remains committed to fostering equity and innovation through this initiative. By integrating technology into green spaces, it aims to create a more inclusive and connected community.
The city expressed gratitude to all departments, partners, and community members who contributed to achieving this milestone.
