Rep. María Elvira Salazar, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district, posted a series of messages on her social media accounts on February 16 and 17, 2026, addressing topics ranging from President’s Day to immigration reform and business growth in Miami.
On February 16, Salazar marked the national holiday with a tribute to America’s first president: “Happy President’s Day America! Today we celebrate George Washington, our first President who set the tone of reverence, excellence and dignity to the Office of the Presidency, and those who have followed his footsteps. From Valley Forge to the fall of the Berlin Wall, American” (posted February 16, 2026).
The following day, she turned her attention to U.S. manufacturing and immigration policy. In a post dated February 17, Salazar stated: “American manufacturers know what’s at stake. Smart, targeted immigration reform is essential to revamp U.S. manufacturing and keep U.S. industry growing, innovating, and competitive. That’s why they’re backing the DIGNITY Act. Here’s a look at the facts behind their support “ (posted February 17, 2026). The DIGNITY Act is legislation that seeks comprehensive immigration reform aimed at strengthening both border security and opportunities for immigrants in the United States.
Later that same day, Salazar welcomed Palantir Technologies to Miami with another message: “Welcome to Miami, @PalantirTech ! Like so many companies choosing to plant their flag here, you’ll find a city built for growth, low taxes, smart regulation, and a skilled workforce ready to get to work. Miami is open for business, and the future is being built right here.” (posted February 17, 2026). Palantir Technologies’ decision reflects an ongoing trend of technology firms relocating or expanding operations in South Florida.
President’s Day is observed annually in February as a federal holiday honoring George Washington’s birthday as well as other presidents who have served in office. The DIGNITY Act has been discussed among lawmakers as an effort toward bipartisan immigration solutions focused on supporting economic growth while addressing border security concerns.
Miami has seen significant economic development over recent years due in part to its favorable tax policies and regulatory environment which continue attracting major companies across various sectors.
