Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, addressed a range of issues in several posts made on February 20, 2026.
In one post, Salazar commented on the release of Venezuelan political figure Juan Pablo Guanipa: “Finally, @JuanPGuanipa is unconditionally free after unjust detention and house arrest. It is not real amnesty if even one political prisoner remains jailed. The regime must release them all and fully restore the fundamental rights of the Venezuelan people.” (posted February 20, 2026).
Later that day, she discussed actions taken by the Department of Veterans Affairs in response to concerns from veterans about disability ratings: “I’m glad to see the Department of Veterans Affairs take swift action after veterans raised concerns that this rule could lower disability ratings simply because treatment works. Our veterans should never be penalized for seeking care, I will always stand with those who served” (posted February 20, 2026). The Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for providing vital services to America’s veterans.
In another post on February 20, Salazar shared her personal story and legislative priorities: “I recently sat down with @WSJ to talk about my journey. From Miami’s Cuban exile community to interviewing Fidel Castro to serving in Congress, and why it’s my mission to finally fix our broken immigration system. Salazar represents Florida’s 27th congressional district and has focused her work on issues such as human rights in Latin America, support for U.S. veterans, and immigration reform.
