Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th district, addressed recent regional and international issues in a series of posts on her social media account.
The Cártel de los Soles is widely believed to be involved in drug trafficking and has been linked to elements within the Venezuelan military.
The following day, on August 27, 2025, Salazar expressed condolences regarding an incident at Annunciation Catholic School: “I am heartbroken by the tragedy at Annunciation Catholic School. As a mother, I cannot imagine the pain these families are facing.
My prayers are with the victims and the entire community during this devastating time.”
Later that same day, she criticized Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega’s government for its treatment of dissidents.
¡Tiranos!
Pero que no quepa duda:” Ortega’s administration has faced international criticism for human rights abuses and suppression of political opposition.
Salazar has consistently used her platform to highlight concerns about authoritarianism and criminal networks in Latin America. Her statements reflect ongoing debates about security challenges and human rights in the region.
